Ich gehe heute ins Kino. (I go to the movies today.)

Ich fahre morgen nach Berlin (I travel to Berlin tomorrow.)

LESSON 04

CONJUNCTION of STRONG VERBS

Here you learn how to use these "strong" verbs correctly. These verbs conjugate irregular in the second and in the third person. There are typical patterns for vowel changes you can find in my exercise. For example:

Ich nehme | Du nimmst | er nimmt

LESSON 13

PAST TENSE IV

Here you learn the difference between "waren" and "gewesen". "SEIN" is one of these words you can use in a conversation in simple past as well as in present perfect. Both are used very frequently. For example:

Ich war im Kino. (I was at the cinema.)

Ich bin im Kino gewesen. (I have been to the movies.)

LESSON 14

PAST TENSE V

Here you will learn how to use "HABEN" in present perfect and in simple past. The lesson is focussing on more complex sayings using "HABEN". For example:

Ich habe einen Termin. (I am having an appointment.) Ich hatte keine Zeit. (I had no time.) Ich habe es eilig gehabt. (I was in a hurry.)

LESSON 15

PAST TENSE VI

Here you learn how to use irregular verbs in present perfect. These verbs are very important and are based on certain vowel changes. For example:

Ich bleibe | Ich bin geblieben (I stay | I stayed)

Ich nehme | Ich habe genommen (I take | I took)

LESSON 16

PAST TENSE VII

Ich habe | Ich hatte

Ich denke | Ich dachte

Ich muss | ich musste

LESSON 05

PERSONAL PRONOUNS

Here you learn the difference between "I" and "me" in German. Personal Pronouns in Nominative and Accusative are key to communicate in German. You will learn the difference between:

Ich besuche dich. (I visit you.)

Du besuchst mich. (You visit me.)

LESSON 06

MODAL VERBS

Here you will learn how to use Modalverben in present tense. You will learn how to conjugate: müssen, sollen, können, dürfen, wollen und möchten". For example:

German Lessons Berlin | Course Level A1.1

A1.2 GERMAN LESSONS

8 Lessons in total

Reach A2.1 in less than 2 month if you take one lesson per week

SPEED

HOW CAN I LEARN FAST?

The learning speed varies from student to student. The students who learn very fast are usually more talkative, are not afraid of applying their knowledge, and try to speak German in every situation they can. They mostly try to use what they have learned as much as possible and are not afraid of saying something in a wrong way . This might be something to keep in mind to speed up your learning curve.

DURATION

HOW MANY LESSONS?

If you start form the scratch you should consider spending 4-6 month, if you take one lessen per week, to reach a decent level. Finishing A2 would take you about 6-7 month with one lessen per week. B1 can be reached in about 12-14 month/one lesson per week plus homework. If you are eager to reach B2 or C1 you have to consider that you also need to entangle yourself with German on an everyday level. To reach C1 or C2 in a class room would only be possible if you take lots of daily intensive lessons.

WHEN TO STOP

WHICH LEVEL DO I NEED?

Basically, if you don't need to take an exam, you can stop taking lessons after finishing A2. Because this level equips you with the basic grammar and skill set you need to become a successful self-learner. Please notice that with my A2 levels you will be much more fluent and confident in terms of speaking and writing compare to a language school. So if you are on a budged or have simply no time for lessons A2 should be the minimum goal. If you want to know everything about all the grammar you will ever need B1 is the level to shoot for.

WHAT ABOUT PRIVATE TUTORING?

German Tutor Berlin - Online German Lessons

A1.1 LEVEL
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

This course level is suitable for students who have never studied German or who have very little knowledge. Don't worry if you don't know which level you have to choose. I will check your level at our first lesson.

WHAT DO I LEARN?

In my lessons, you will speak German from the very first time we meet. 90 percent of the time is used for an oral language training. APPROACH

BASED ON YEARS of EXPERIENCES

I developed my own curriculum and a methodology with a highly conversational approach.

LESSON 09

WISSEN vs. KENNEN

WERDEN vs. BEKOMMEN

Here you learn how to use "wissen" and "kennen" as well as to use "werden" and "bekommen" in the proper context. The second meaning of "werden", for example (becoming, turning, getting), is often confused with the German word "bekommen" (receiving). This is an other so called "false friend" you have to master on this level. For example:

Ich bekomme eine Email. (I am getting an email)
Wie alt wirst du? (How old are you turning?)

LESSON 10

GERNE | MÖGEN | MÜSSEN | BRAUCHEN

Here you learn the difference between the adverb "gerne" and the verb "mögen" as well as the difference between the modal verb "müssen" and the verb "brauchen". For example:

Ich mag Pizza. (I like pizza.) Ich esse gerne Pizza. (I like eating pizza.) Ich muss morgen arbeiten. (I have to work tomorrow.) Ich brauche eine neue Stelle. (I need a new position.)

LESSON 11

PAST TENSE I

Here you will learn how to use present perfect in German. This lessons is focussing on regular verbs in past tense using "haben" as the helping verb.  For example:

Ich habe viel gearbeitet. (I worked a lot)

Ich habe eine Party gemacht. (I had a party)

LESSON 12

PAST TENSE II

Here you learn how to use these verbs in present perfect using "SEIN" as a helping verb (Hilfsverb). These verbs are mostly verbs indicating movements or change of condition. For example:

Ich bin nach Berlin gefahren. (I went to Berlin.)

Ich bin krank geworden (I got sick.)

FAST LEARNING

GERMAN-ENGLISH EXERCISES

Did you ever sat in a class room reading a textbook and getting frustrated about the exercise? Many students get frustrated because they simply don't understand the text of these exercises. Besides, looking up words in a dictionary is slow and has very little benefits.

With these bilingual German exercises, you learn colloquial German quick and easy and you stay motivated and focused. On top of this: Each exercise comes with an audio exercises. So, you learn how to read and you improve your comprehension and writing skills in an instant.

WORK SHEETS

WHY SCHOOL-BOOKS don't WORK?

There are several reasons why German text books provided at a school don't work. First, they are designed for the teacher and support their teaching methodologies. But they don't support the students leaning experience. Second, these exercises at a school are mostly in German because German language teacher were not used to teach in English. Third, these exercises do not train you to actually actively use the language. But they simply test your capabilities.

 A1.2 CURRICULUM

Lessons 9-16

60 minutes or 90 minutes lessons available

German Lessons | Course Level A1.1

C-LEVEL

For Students with

an advanced or academic  knowledge

COURSE LEVELS
WHAT IS THIS FOR?

The course level defines your current German skills. There are 6 basic course levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. If we put it very simple: A1 is for beginners, and A2 is for students with very basic but still limited knowledge. B1 is for students with a fair or good knowledge. If you are on B2 you already can consider yourself having a very good knowledge of German. On C1 you are already a very confident speaker close to a native speaker, while on C2 - the highest level - you can communicate, write, and read on an academic level.

THE RIGHT LEVEL

HOW CAN I FIND OUT?

Don't worry! I will check at our first lesson what level you are in and where we should start. Basically, you can teach most grammar parts on almost every level. But there are certain rudimentary skills which are more suitable for a beginner level than others. If you are on a B2 level you have finished most of the grammar and can focus mainly on vocabulary, writing, and on your conversational skills.

INTENSITY

HOW MANY LESSONS per WEEK?

I strongly recommend to start with one German lesson per week. Keep in mind that each lesson comes with two additional text and audio exercises. To finish one exercises (including the audio) takes about 1 1/2 hours. If you do one exercises per day you need two evenings to finish your homework. Including the actual lesson, this way you will study German three days per week already. For most people this is the maximum work load if you have a full time job.

A-LEVEL

For Students with no or very little

knowledge in German

SAVE MONEY

OUTPERFORM every CLASSROOM

Get a confident German A2 level for around thousand Euros. At a school you will spend at least three times as much to reach the same level.

PRACTICE

TO BECOME CONFIDENT

In my lessons you will practice everything you learn. There are no dry grammar lessons. Unless you are asking for for it :) At a scholl you practice and speak German only 1 to 3 minutes per hour max. Here you invest all your time and money in conversation.

BEST PRACTICE

WHY SCHOOLS don't WORK

First, you don't interact in a class room. You listen. Or sleep. Second, you will talk in English to your class mates for the most time. Third, even if you speak German you will mostly speak to other class mates. That means, you will listen to "wrong" German with a bad pronunciation. Forth, you will work with German text books. In my lessons you can study with bilingual exercises. This will save you a lot of time and energy.
